Frequently asked questions
Can I buy CocoPallets now?
No. At the moment, we are only accepting pre-orders from eligible companies. CocoPallets will be available for purchase after completion of our first factory in the Philippines, scheduled for Q4 2021.
What do you mean by pre-order?
After we confirm the eligibility of the company, pre-order customers have the opportunity to become part of the first cohort of companies using CocoPallets.
Which companies are eligible for pre-order?
Leading brands producing and exporting large quantities of dry goods from Asia.
Will CocoPallets replace all pallets?
CocoPallets are currently not a one-size-fits-all solution. We encourage the use of multiple-use pallets in pooling systems. This has often the lowest costs and the lowest environmental impact. However, pallet pooling is generally not an option for exports. The pallets have to be just strong enough, ISPM15 compliant, and as inexpensive as possible.
What problems does CocoPallet solve?
In the circular economy, you hardly ever solve only one problem at the time. We buy the coconut husk from the farmers, creating extra income at the bottom of the pyramid. The farmers stop burning the coconut husks which reduces the air pollution. Our CocoPallets replace single-use one-way wooden export pallets so fewer trees need to be cut and shipped for these purposes. The customer saves money and lowers its carbon footprint. At the end the milled CocoPallet export pallets make excellent heat-treated biomass for agricultural purposes.
Where is CocoPallet located?
CocoPallet is headquarted in Amsterdam, the Netherlands with plans to open its first joint venture factory in the Philippines.
Are CocoPallets biodegradable?
Yes, 100%. We do not use pesticides, synthetics resins, additives or nails. After use, our export pallets can be shredded, recycled or composted. We are actively exploring and developing ways to use our CocoPallets as soil improver pot soil.
Are CocoPallets rackable?
We have chosen for a nestable design that enables us to ship many more pallets per container, saving up to 70% in a traditional 40 foot container.
How much space do CocoPallets save in a container?
CocoPallets save up to 70% when compared with a normal wooden pallet. A stack of 20 of our pallets measures around 0,75M total height, whereas a stack of 20 normal pallets measures 2,70M. This means that around 1400 standard size CocoPallets will fit in a 40-foot container.
Are CocoPallets ISPM15 compliant?
Yes, CocoPallets are 100% free of bugs and pests. This is guaranteed by the heat-treatment of the CocoPallet proprietary manufacturing process and the impenetrable nature of the final product. This unique feature not only saves money as no pest treatment is necessary but it also saves valuable time during transport, as we will provide you with documents that guarantee a fast lane passing at the port of arrival without the usual delays that are common with wooden pallets due to checks for harmful pests.
What do you use to make a cocopallet?
We use the coconut husk to make CocoPallets. The husk is the outer, hairy part of the coconut and is generally treated as waste, burned or dumped 85% of the time.
Can CocoPallets be customized?
Yes, with a substantial production volume, CocoPallet can create custom designs and sizes. We can even incorporate your company logo.
How much do CocoPallets cost?
The CocoPallet solution can provide cost-savings for customers of up to 25%. If you represent a leading brand producing and exporting large quantities of dry goods from Asia, please contact us to find out about testing and pre-ordering CocoPallets.
What is the maximum weight CocoPallets can handle?
Most of our pallets can easily handle 4000Kg static load and 1000Kg dynamic load. We are currently developing heavy-duty pallets that can handle bigger loads.
Is CocoPallet international a Fair Trade company and what about worker’s rights?
Absolutely. We take care of our entire team and the entire chain. The coconut farmer is just as important as the cook and the CEO. We want to have impact and inspire positive change.
Do you use biomimicry techniques in your designs and processes?
Palm oil, coconut oil. Are they the same thing?
